I can’t begin to tell you how much I appreciate seeing these images. I send out orders that I’ve created by hand, all the time wondering how the bride will use it, so it makes my heart go pitty-pat when I actually do get to take a peek! Thank you girls for sharing this little piece of your event with me!

The cake is from a wonderful Hershey’s recipe. And then between the tiers I poured a layer of chocolate sauce (a secret family recipe) and placed sliced strawberries on top of that. SO delicious. I’ve never had a cake this moist and flavorful before. I wish you could all come over and taste it.

I can hardly stand how cute it turned out. I used gold dust to enhance the roses and pucker lines. And then sprayed sugar pearls with edible gold paint and sprinkled them around the base. The pearls are my favorite. They work so well here!

I must say, her wedding planner Heidi from Yellow House in Kansas did a fabulous job. Among the many things, she helped the bride find the perfect vintage dress and a way to alter it, found the jewelry and shoes, made the bouquet, boutonniere, centerpieces, and decorated for the reception. Her work is amazing and she’s very resourceful.

The little jewel on the left side of the veil was a smaller version of the one used in the center of the hair flower. So pretty.

I’ve always liked the look of serving platters on different sizes of tree stumps. It certainly had the right feel for this occasion.

I also made a guest book using leftover paper from the invitations. Since I started the book from scratch, I was able to personalize the first page before I bound it. I love making guest books that match the announcements, I mean…how perfect is that?

Using pieces from the bridal bouquet, I assembled a handsome boutonniere then wrapped skinny ribbon around the stem to give it that African flair.

The ceiling was chock full of tissue poofs. They were hung on a grid at different lengths. Green poofs floated above the orange ones. It’s a very inexpensive and impressive way to fill a room.

The couple were on a very tight budget. (About $3,000 plus food.) Since the wedding took place over the Christmas holiday, I suggested using “presents” as centerpieces. Natalie collected baby shoe boxes from the local shoe store (free!) and wrapped them for the price of white wrapping paper, ribbon (on sale!) and tissue. Talk about money saver!
